Meet the Judges: ⌘X & ⌘V 2.0

We’re back at it, and we have three new judges for the second edition of ⌘X & ⌘V: A LIVE Collage Competition! On Friday, August 25, at 6:30 PM, see how the collaging will go down in one of St. Petersburg’s finest breweries, Cage Brewing (2001 1st Ave. S., St. Petersburg, FL 33712). Read on to learn more about the judges we hand-picked for the event, all of which are local creatives in the Tampa Bay area!

Meet the Judges

Caitlin Burns
Designer, Competitor in ⌘X & ⌘V March 2017

Caitlin Burns is known online as a GIF-maker, and “in real life” as a generalist designer and digital nomad. Clients hire her for editorial illustration, presentation design, WordPress development, and other marketing needs. Her go-to font is Tungsten from Hoefler & Co, and her advice to competitors is “Don’t be afraid of a little empty space! And don’t lose your scissors in a pile of magazines!”

Elizabeth Herrmann
Graphic Design Professor, University of South Florida

Elizabeth Herrmann is a photographer, type designer, installation guerrilla, arts promoter, printmaker, culture critic, writer, activist, and university faculty; she teaches art and design at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg while slinging lo-fi messaging across the States. When we asked her who her design god is, she answered “I idolize Vivian Maier, who’s a photographer, but close enough.” Her advice for competitors? Trust, no one.

Noah Deledda
Sculpture Artist, Graphic Artist, Painter

Noah Deledda is primarily known for his fine art sculptural work, as well as being a graphic artist, designer, builder & painter. The most prevalent style that influences him is the underpinning of pattern, repetition, refinement, precision & natural form. His advice to competitors? “Always let your conscience be your guide. – Jiminy Cricket”

Eight competitors will get back to the basics and fight head-to-head creating raw, handmade collages based on single-word prompts. The judges will decide their fate as the winners work through a series of rounds, each with a new prompt. The winner of the final round will take home a prize!
